The LPN Manager provides and ensures quality resident care and the promotion of resident wellness. Provides direct nursing services to the residents for optimal health and safety. Supports and enforces
all policies, programs and philosophies of Country Meadows / Ecumenical Community.

Routine Functions of the Position:
• Promotes a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all residents, coworkers, families and facility guests.
• Performs physical head-to-toe review of newly admitted or returning residents as assigned.
• Continually monitors resident needs to be sure they are being met and that customer support plans are current. Makes rounds at least twice during the shift.
• Communicates information from the customer support plan to the personal care staff and ensures that staff provides the services specified in the plan.
• Provides resident / family teaching regarding health and wellness issues.
• Responds with appropriate actions and urgency to resident illness, injury or complaint. Notifies proper providers and/or supervisors of events.
• Maintains current knowledge of QuickMAR functions. Serves as a QuickMAR resource to medication associates.
• Assures that medical orders are implemented.
• Reviews and countersigns all physician orders during assigned shift.
• Reviews and approves medication and treatment orders in QuickMAR.
• Monitors medications for effectiveness and appropriateness.
• Maintains effective communication with residents and their families, physicians, pharmacy and proper outside agencies to ensure optimal resident care.
• Monitors resident chronic conditions.
• Assesses and monitors condition of acutely ill residents.
• Protects resident rights and confidential information according to state and federal laws.
• Performs treatments consistent with scope of practice. Consults with DOW or designee to determine whether specific treatments require the use of external resources.
• Documents and maintains all pertinent resident related information according to company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Ensures that all infection control guidelines are met and that appropriate tracking and surveillance procedures are followed.
• Observes for signs of resident abuse or neglect. Takes immediate action to prevent harm and to report incidents according to company policy and state law.
• Actively protects resident and co-worker safety by recognizing and reporting and taking immediate action to minimize risk of accident or injury.
• Appropriately handles on-the-job injuries reported by co-workers.
• Responds to resident emergencies and reacts with appropriate interventions.
• Completes required safety related reports.
• Exhibits knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Observes the work activities of direct personal care staff on the designated shift.
• Maintains effective communication regarding staff and shift workload challenges.
• Participates in the orientation and ongoing training of unit co-workers.
• Attends and participates in staff meetings and mandatory in-services.
• Enhances personal development in clinical gerontologic nursing, leadership skills, and communication skills.
• Maintains current knowledge of pertinent state and federal regulations.
• In conjunction with the Director of Wellness and Assistant Director of Wellness, is responsible for compliance with company policies and procedures, pharmacy policies and procedures and, regulatory agency rules and regulations.
• Assumes and shares the responsibilities of the Manager on Duty (see Manager on Duty job description).
• Ability to multitask.
• Must be dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and able to work without constant supervision.
• In case of fire or other internal disaster, assists in evacuating residents to exits.
• Protects resident rights and confidential information according to state and federal laws.
• Observe for any signs of resident abuse or neglect. Takes immediate action to prevent harm and report incidents according to company policy and state law.

Work Environment:
• Ability to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, kneel, reach, stretch, carry a minimum of 20 pounds, lift up to 50 pounds, and to support up to 70 lbs.
• Push/Pull up to 100 pounds.
• Secure proper assistance for transferring and lifting residents as needed.
• Workplace includes the entire campus except the attic.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Current unencumbered LPN or RN license in state where employed.
• CPR certified.
• Minimum of one year experience in assisted living or other health care is preferred.
• Have the ability to understand and speak English at a level which allows the safe, efficient performance of the job.
